July 23, 1933 - Montreal, Quebec

May 17, 2024 - Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Roland Emil Joseph Nadeau on Friday, May 17, 2024, at the age of 90 years.

Roland is survived by his children, Stephen Nadeau (Amy), Kevin Nadeau (Denise), Vivian Nadeau, Tracey Nadeau; and his daughter-in-law Lori. He is also survived by his twelve grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Roland, affectionately known as Roly, was predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years, Vaughn Nadeau, his children, Terri, Roly, and Beverly; his parents, Oscar Nadeau, Agathe Guitard, and Jean Le Blanc; his sister Jacqueline Burke, and his son-in-law James Gordon Roppel.

Born in Montreal, QC, on July 23, 1933, Roland later moved to Ontario, where he met the love of his life. Roland and Vaughn exchanged vows in Niagara Falls in 1955 before settling in Calgary, AB, to build their life and raise their family. Roland was renowned for his carpentry skills, having built and renovated numerous houses, including adding an indoor pool to his own home for his children and the Fairview neighborhood kids to enjoy. Later, Roly and Vaughn fulfilled their dream of living by the water, moving to Blind Bay, BC, before returning to Alberta to be closer to their grandchildren.

In addition to his carpentry skills, Roland had a deep passion for painting. His canvases, filled with vibrant colors and scenes inspired by his travels and the beauty of nature, adorned the walls of his home and those of lucky friends and family members.

Roly also had a love for watching sports and catching the latest movies. He lived for his family, always offering a helping hand and sage advice, especially when it came to renovations. Roly cherished sharing stories from his childhood, bringing joy and laughter to all who listened.

After retiring, Roly and Vaughn embarked on numerous adventures, traveling to Europe, Mexico, the USA, and exploring the beauty of Canada.

Roland will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but his memory will forever remain in our hearts.
