Obituary of Sharron Madelynn Morgan

February 24, 1952 – Vancouver, British Columbia

December 14, 2024 – High River, Alberta

Sharron Morgan (nee MacNeil), beloved wife of Robin Morgan, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the age of 72 years.

Sharron was born in Vancouver, BC, on February 24, 1952. She moved to Ocean Falls, BC, where she lived until her late teens, then in Prince Rupert for a while. Sharron eventually moved back to Vancouver where, later in life, she met Robin, the love of her life. She attended John Oliver Secondary School and then went on to Vancouver Community College for their Nursing program, successfully graduating as an LPN.

She pursued diverse career paths, including working as an instructor at Figure Magic Fitness Studio and then expanding her nursing career at the Vancouver General Hospital, Kitimat General Hospital, and finally Mission Hospital, from where she retired after thirty years of dedicated care. She was a proud member of the Baptist Church and passionately volunteered her time with the Children's Choir of Uganda.

She accomplished many remarkable things throughout her life, but she was particularly proud of her achievements as a competitive swimmer and synchronized swimmer in her early childhood, which she actively continued throughout her lifetime. She was a prominent member of the Ocean Falls Swim Club, where she won numerous Canadian awards.

Sharron took pride in mastering the art of quilting, sewing, needlepoint, and embroidery, all while meticulously keeping up with current events and news. Her family and friends cherish the stunning quilts they were gifted from Sharron—each one crafted affectionately and with love in every detail.

True to her caring and compassionate spirit, she was also very proud to have the experience of being a homestay mom for international students from Korea, Mexico, and Germany.

Sharron’s sense of adventure would lead her to travel the province with Robin and their cherished dogs in their motorhome, as well as many other memorable family camping trips.

Along with Robin, her loving husband of thirty years, Sharron will be dearly missed by her daughter Paula MacLeod, stepdaughter Kathy Morgan (Richard) Stech, as well as her five grandchildren; Dylan Martin, Alex Martin, Michelle Martin, Stephen Stech, and Garrett Stech.

She is also survived by her brother Don (Lynn) MacNeil of Prince George, BC, her four sisters, Kathy MacNeil of Quesnel, BC, Maggie (Stephen) Hawgood of Campbell River, BC, Julie (Ken) Davies of Delta, BC, and Laura (Dennis) Ethier of Port Alberni, BC; sister-in-law Jill Kelly, her beloved golden retriever Kyla, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Sharron was predeceased by her stepson Craig Morgan, her parents, Margaret Maureen and Vincent John MacNeil; and her dear golden companions, Sandy, Poacher, Saja, Sara, Lilly, and Simba.

The family would like to thank all of the incredible and caring staff at High River Hospital, especially Dr. Adam Vyse. They would also like to thank the staff at the Foothills Hospital and especially Dr. Omar Khan. Their gratitude also goes out to palliative care supervisor, Helen Davies.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please make memorial donations in Sharron’s name to the High River Hospital at www.highriverhealthfoundation.ca/donate-now
