Obituary of Harminder Kaur Toor

November 25, 1926 – Rurki, India

May 16, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

Harminder Kaur Toor passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 16, 2024, with her family at their residence in Calgary, AB. 

She was the daughter of the Late Sardarni Harnam Kaur and the Late Sardar Deva Singh Randhawa, born in the village of Rurki, Punjab, India. She was the loving eldest sister to her five siblings. She lived with her family in Bombay as a young child and later moved into the village of Galib Kalan, Punjab.

She married her late husband, Sardar Tarlok Singh Toor, and moved to Jawaddi Village, near Model Town Ludhiana, to start their family. They had five children, each of whom is now married and have families of their own.

Her eldest child and daughter, Surinder Kaur, moved to Penticton, BC, after marrying her husband Gurmit Singh Klar. Devinderjit Singh, her eldest son, is residing in Jawaddi Village, Ludhiana, with his wife Ravinder Kaur Toor. Late Baljinderjit Singh, her second son, and Late Harinder Kaur Toor, her daughter-in-law, also resided in Jawaddi Village, Ludhiana. Her youngest daughter Sukhjit Kaur settled in Surrey, BC, with her husband Kuljit Singh Hans.

Harminder Kaur Toor spent the last phase of her life at her daughter Baljit Kaur and her son-in-law Jarnail Singh Sihota’s home in Calgary, AB.

Harminder devoted her life to caring for her family. She is remembered to be a thoughtful, patient, loving, and dedicated mother who would spend days and nights to ensure that her children were very well cared for. Her grandchildren remember her as an ever-glimmering beacon of warmth and love.

For all those who wish to pay their last respects, please join us for her Memorial Service on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at McInnis & Holloway (Calgary Crematorium, 3219 – 4th Street NW, Calgary, AB, within the valley of Queen’s Park Cemetery).
