May 14, 2024 – Exshaw, Alberta
Benjamin Frank of Exshaw, AB, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at the age of 34 years.
Benjamin was born in Edmonton, AB, on August 13, 1989. He graduated from David Thompson Secondary School of Invermere, BC, in 2008 and then attended SAIT for culinary school, graduating in 2011.
Ben's passion was traveling the world, visiting places such as Japan, Europe, Central America, and most recently, Tahiti. He was particularly proud of successfully climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and Machu Picchu. When he wasn’t traveling, he also loved hiking throughout Kananaskis in his downtime with his much-adored dog, Balto.
Ben will be most remembered for his kind nature and eagerness to help his friends and family.
Ben is survived by his parents, Daniel and Lisa Frank of Fairmont Hot Springs, BC; his brother and sister-in-law, James and Deirdra Frank of Vernon, BC; and his sister and brother-in-law, Kaylee Frank and Marco Valera, as well as his nieces, Daniela and Rebecca, all of Calgary, AB.
The works of writer and philologist J.R.R. Tolkien held a special place in Ben’s heart: “In sorrow, we must go, but not in despair. Behold! We are not bound forever to the circles of the world, and beyond them is more than memory.”
As per Ben’s wishes, no formal service will be held.
Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Benjamin’s family here.
