Obituary of Ronald Norman Webster

August 17, 1934 – Yorkton, Saskatchewan

May 11, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ron Webster on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Rockyview Hospital in Calgary, following the discovery of a heart issue that caused a sudden decline in Ron’s health. We are comforted to know he is with Jesus, and in the company of many family members and friends who predeceased him.

He is survived by his wife Suzanne; his children Brent (Deanne), Bruce (Ruth), and Cynthia; his grandchildren Brooke (Declan), Sierra (Michael), Marina, Cohen, Sienna, Desmond, and Serena; his sister, Jean; as well as other relatives and friends.

Ron was born in Yorkton, SK, to Norman and Dorothy Bagg, and grew up in the farming community of Springside. He left home at a young age to join the RCAF, which led him to meet his wife Suzanne in Calgary. The two celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on April 5. Later, the couple moved to Fredericton to be near Suzanne’s family while Ron earned a Bachelor of Education degree from UNB. His first teaching post was near Ottawa, where his first son, Brent, was born, and later the family settled in Calgary, where Bruce and Cynthia were born.

He was a long-time member of the Legion Branch 264, and he and Suzanne would dance there every weekend. He loved golfing and curling, and always kept his yard, garden, home, and car in fantastic condition. Ron taught at various schools within the Calgary Board of Education until his retirement.

After retirement, he took his wife on numerous trips all over the world, and spent many happy winters in Apache Junction, AZ. He served on the condominium board and took on various acts of service for his neighbours at Sierra’s West, where he and Suzanne have lived since 1998. Ron took a keen interest in the lives of his family and friends and was always happy to lend a hand. He loved chatting and meeting new people as he went about his daily affairs. We are grateful he was able to live his life with purpose, and on his terms, right to the end.

A memorial service will be held at Richmond Hill Baptist Church (7251 Sierra Morena Blvd SW, Calgary, AB T3H 3N5) on Friday, May 24, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Foyer.
