Condolences
Hello. I remember your mom while I was visiting my friend Yoka at United. We had so many great conversations. I was saddened to hear of Nancy‘s passing, but she had a wonderful life and I’m blessed to have met her. I condolences to the family, wish I would’ve met her years earlier.
I was saddened to hear of Nancy's passing. My deepest sympathy to her family.
I have wonderful memories over many years of knowing Nancy, through both work and 'play'. I first met Nancy as a fellow employee at the Glenrose Hospital in Edmonton. When she learned I was from Newfoundland we immediately bonded over fishing
-conversations, which expanded to many fishing trips together both in Alberta and later in Newfoundland (when she and Stan visited). Orchids, gardening, wonderful dinners and parties at her home, and hours of slide-watching following their many treks around the world, were always interesting learning experiences and fun.
A wonderful lady whom I will miss dearly.
We send our love and condolences on the passing of your mother, grandmother and grandmother. We first met many of you at Nancy and Stan's 50th wedding anniversary, where we put on our provided name tags that also had a question such as " Ask me about travelling." What a unique way- Nancy's way- of meeting a roomful of strangers and leaving having made some new and interesting friends.
We met Stan and Nancy when they joined the FLC Outdoor club and we walked and talked together for many a kilometer. In time Nancy joined the executive of the Outdoor club and used her many organizational skills to safely and efficiently get everyone seated on the buses that we used for our outings.
She certainly did love her gardening and her orchids. She gave me an orchid, complete with hand written instructions with its Latin name and its care. I spent an afternoon with her, learning how to transplant orchids. She was so very knowledgeable and so generous in sharing that knowledge.
Stan and Nancy travelled with us on our first Collette trip to Tuscany and then Nancy and Libby did a river cruise from Budapest to Amsterdam and another Collette tour called Music Cities of America. Nancy so enjoyed seeing new sites and meeting new people.
Nancy bowled with us, baked her special carrot cake for us, mentored us and loved us. She will be dearly missed, but we are blessed to have known her and treasure the many memories of happy times we shared.
Sincerely,
Mary and Don Checkley
So sorry to hear of Nancy’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of her family and friends. She was such a joy to be around. She bowled with us and was an amazing bowler. She beat us a lot. So when I missed getting the pins down, she would say “CLOSE BUT NO CIGAR”. We loved her joyfulness and zest for life. She set a very good example for us. We always felt better after being around her. Love Carol and Hugh McMahon.
