Obituary of Catherine Affleck

Catherine Affleck passed away in Calgary, AB, on Friday, May 17, 2024, at the age of 86 years.

Catherine was born in Scarborough, England, on March 10, 1938, and grew up in North Yorkshire. She moved to London in the 1950s to study and work before emigrating to Canada in 1967. While working at Capilano College in 1968, she met Delburt Affleck. They were married in Vancouver in 1969 and moved to Regina in 1978 with their three children.

In Regina, Catherine completed a Bachelor of Education degree at the University of Regina and worked as a teacher and administrative assistant with the Regina Board of Education. She was also a member of the congregation and volunteered at All Saints Anglican Church. After her retirement, she and Delburt moved in 2012 to Chilliwack, BC, and then finally to Calgary in 2021.

Catherine was a generous and loving mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and aunt, and steadied so much of her life around supporting her family. She also stayed in close contact with her family and friends abroad through unfailing correspondence and frequent travel.

Catherine is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Louise Affleck Hall and Chris Hall of Calgary; son and daughter-in-law Ian and Miriam Affleck of Chilliwack; son and daughter-in-law, David and Willow Affleck of Missoula; and ten grandchildren. Catherine is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Trevor and Joan Croft of Worksop, England; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Catherine was predeceased by her husband Delburt, her parents Doreen and Bransby Croft, and her sister Christine Noble.

A private family service celebrating the lives of Catherine and Delburt Affleck will be held in Chilliwack in the Summer of 2024.
