Obituary of Murna Arline Kosowan

Murna Kosowan of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the age of 89 years.

Murna was born in Mimico, ON. She lived most of her life in Ontario where she met her husband Walter and had her two sons. With Walter being in the Canadian Armed Forces, they did two tours in Whitehorse, YT, where she had her daughter. After the tours in the Yukon, Murna and Walter settled in Barrie, ON. In 1995, Murna and Walter moved to Calgary, AB, where they spent the remainder of their days together.

Murna had several careers throughout her life, but mainly, she was a florist; she was a "Plant Whisperer" who loved all things green. She was an awarded member of several societies including the African Violet Association of Canada, and the Gesneriad Society.

Murna had many friends and family, who will all miss her smile, wisdom, and love.

Murna is survived by her children Douglas Kosowan, and Darlene Kosowan; five grandchildren Jeremy Kosowan, Renee (Marcel) Groenland, Davina (Greg Pedder) Kosowan, Jeffrey (Ashley) Kosowan, and Tavis (Aynslee) Kosowan; and four great-grandchildren Ryder and Hailey Kosowan and Elle and Henry Groenland. Murna is also survived by her siblings Thomas Moore, Lynda Richards, Donna Price, and Frederick Moore.

Murna was predeceased by her husband Walter Kosowan, son David Kosowan, half brother Ricardo Alvirez, and her parents Arline and Henry Moore.

A Celebration of Life for Murna and Walter will be held at a later date.
