May 19, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
Diane Wahlfeldt of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2024, at the age of 77 years.
Born in Taunton, Somerset, UK on April 24, 1947, Diane was the beloved wife of Daniel Wahlfeldt, as well as the loving mother of Kirsten (Mike Sparks), Travis (Anne), and Nicholas. She was also a proud grandmother of Cassandra, Samantha, Daniel, and Alexander; and a great-grandmother of Violet, Lucas, Charlotte, Claire, and Theo.
Diane graduated from the University of Alberta with a Masters of Education and became a dedicated teacher. Diane expanded her skill set in teaching by learning French and was a French Immersion teacher in Lethbridge, AB, for more than twenty years. When Diane retired, she moved to Malaysia and taught English as an additional language. Her work in Southeast Asia enabled her to indulge in her passion for adventure, and she travelled extensively. She was a devoted and valued member of the congregation at St. Augustine’s Anglican Church. She sang with the choir and volunteered with the Stephen ministry. Diane spent most of her summers at the family cottage, where she could visit with dear friends and family in the Edmonton area.
Diane was predeceased by her husband, Daniel, her parents, Irene and Clifford Betty; her brothers, Ronald and Keith; and her sister Doreen. She will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who knew her.
We will always remember Diane for her kind nature, contagious smile, and endless love for her family. She will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
A Celebration of Diane’s Life is planned for Sunday, June 30, 2024, at the family cabin (5001 65 St, Val Quentin, AB). A Funeral Service will also be held at St. Augustine's Church (411 11 St S, Lethbridge, AB) with details to be announced at a later date.
