Obituary of Kenneth Ken John BENNER

March 16, 1934 – Calgary, AB August 18, 2014 – Calgary, AB Ken Benner, beloved husband of Nancy Benner of Calgary, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2014 at the age of 80 years. Ken was born and raised in Calgary. He married Nancy MacNeil on August 7, 1954. Ken began Ken Benner Plumbing, a home based business, in 1967, which soon grew from being operated by Nancy and the children to employing over a dozen people. Ken built a building for his business and other tenants in 1979. He owned and operated the company until his retirement in 1992. Ken enjoyed travelling and hiking in Kananaskis Country with Nancy and their family and friends. Ken is survived by his loving wife Nancy, his children Jennifer Burnell, Tom Benner and Jocelyn Benner (Norm Dhak), sisters-in-law Betty Earle and Beryl Benner, brother-in-law Tommy Minton, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents John and Florence Benner, brother Jim Benner and sister Marilyn Minton. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North) on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. A private family graveside service will be held at Mountain View Memorial Gardens on a later date.
