Obituary of Larry Anthony Stella

Larry Stella, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at the age of 76 years. Larry was born on December 31, 1947, in Blairmore, AB.

He moved to Calgary as a young teenager. After graduating from James Fowler High School, he worked various jobs before joining Canada Post in November 1980. Larry took early retirement after 28 years of service on January 1, 2008.

He enjoyed travelling, golfing, fishing, and beers around the campfire in Nordegg, AB. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Larry was a friend to all and brought much love and laughter to those who knew him.

He is survived by Colleen, his wife of 30 years, daughter Michelle (Renny), son Larry Jr. (Debbie), stepson Jamie (Kari) Bishop, stepdaughter Traci (Jason) Bishop, and grandchildren, Shayann (Lorne), Bryce (Tegan), Alex, Brooks (Haley), Gracyn (Mitch), Octavian, Calder, Sawyer, Natalia, Gabriel, Micah, and Ellis.

He was predeceased by his father Zaldino ‘Spud’ Stella, mother Doris Stella, brothers, Barry and Guy Stella; and granddaughter Dawsyn Bishop.

A special thank you to the nurses and doctors of the ICU at the Foothills Medical Centre for their loving care of Larry. 

Family and friends will be advised of a celebration of life to be held at a future date.
