Ming Ma of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2024, at the age of 79 years.

He was born on May 7, 1945, in Toi Shan, China. Ming was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication to his family.

Ming graduated from school in Toi Shan and later moved to Canada, where he became a successful business owner for over thirty years. He was a proud member of the Mah Society of Calgary. In his free time, Ming had a passion for sports, culinary arts, and travelling the world. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and spoiling them with love and attention. Ming will be remembered for his gentle spirit and his love for gardening and woodworking.

Ming is survived by his wife, Xiu Fen Zhang-Ma, son Tom Ma and his wife Lorraine Tan; daughter Kim Ma and her husband Yong Wei Situ; daughter Jenny Ma; and grandchildren, Alexander Ming Furman, Holly Xiu Furman, Tiffany Situ, Joshua Situ, Jessica Situ, and Mary Jane Situ. Ming also leaves behind his two beloved pets, Felix and Noki.

Ming will be most remembered for his quiet, steadfast love for his family. His sponsorships and support of his extended family’s immigration to Canada have forever changed the future of generations to come. He will truly be missed.

A Visitation will be held in Ming’s honour at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street N, Calgary, AB T2E 2V6) on Sunday, June 9, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. A Graveside Service will follow at Queen's Park Cemetery at 3:00 p.m.
