Obituary of Michael Hugh Crombie

November 1, 1932 – Montreal, Quebec

June 3, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

The family wishes to share with you the passing of Michael Hugh Crombie. He passed away on Monday, June 3, 2024, at the age of 91 years. Mike fought the good fight to the bitter end.

Mike is survived by his wife Merilyn (nee Hayes), daughter Cynthia, son Jamie (Sydney), grandchildren, Alexandra (Austin), Katie (Prince), and Thomas; their father Bruce Tumbach, and great-granddaughter Alani. Mike was predeceased by his parents, Joyce and Hugh Crombie; brother David (Flora), and sister Ann (Chip).

Mike was born in Montreal, QC. He attended Westmount Jr. and Sr. High School, McGill University (B Comm ’56), UBC and Western University (MBA ’60) and pursued a career in marketing and real estate management.

Mike was quite an athlete, pursuing football and excelling in cross-country skiing (Red Bird Ski Club), winning many races in his early years where he enjoyed the outdoors. After moving to Calgary, AB, he took up cycling and that became his passion. Mike and Merilyn went on several cycling trips to France, the USA, and many parts of Canada. In later years, his electric trike allowed him to hit the trails until he was 90 years old.

A Celebration of Micheal’s Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Friday, August 23, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
