Obituary of George Russell Grozell

February 11, 1934 – Bengough, Saskatchewan

June 4, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

 

George Grozell, beloved husband of Valerie Grozell, of Calgary, AB passed away peacefully at AgeCare Midnapore, on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at the age of 90 years.

 

Along with his loving wife of almost 63 years, left to cherish George's memory are his daughter Debbie, sister Myrel (Walter) Cairns, his brothers-in-law, Wayne (Leigh) Potter and Garry (Debbie) Potter; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, and his siblings, Everett, Mabel (Harry), Wayne (Jean), Eric (Marg) Archie (Olga), Glen (Barb), Mel (Marg), Roy (Mina), and Joyce.
 

George was born in Bengough, SK on February 11, 1934. He was an Electrician, a member of IBEW, and retired in 1993. George loved our family reunions at his niece, Wanda and Stan’s acreage with his siblings and many of his nieces and nephews. He loved curling, camping and spending time at Debbie’s summer home in Jaffray, BC watching the hummingbirds and visiting with friends.

 

The family would like to thank all the staff at AgeCare Midnapore, Shawnessy & Chaparral Ward, for the wonderful care George received over the last few months. Thank you to Dr. Friske, Dr. Hellman, Dr. Yip, Dr. Wu, and Dr. Kidd who gave him an extra good ten years. Special thanks to my brother Wayne (Leigh) Potter for being there in a time of need, my nephew Derrick Potter for his support and wife Jillene and her mother Marilyn James for their wonderful food.

As per George’s wishes, no service will be held.
