Condolences
First off I wish to thank my dear friend Cherry for bringing Greg into my life and also my children's, by marrying this great guy she fell in love with. How fortunate and lucky for all of us to have him in our world.
Greg was such a wonderful man with a hearty laugh, incredibly smart, thoughtful, funny, caring, genuinely interested in everyone's life, adventurous, and just loved living life to the best. I will miss our bets on our favorite hockey teams battling it out - his Calgary Flames versus my Edmonton Oilers, the bantering, the wins, the losses, and the pay-outs!! Greg would have been rooting on the Oilers in game 7 for the Stanley Cup ... I know that in my heart of hearts.
His time here was too short, but his impact on everyone he came in touch with, will live on. My heart still aches for all of you and there are no words for such unimaginable grief.
Cherry, Dayna, Kaylyn and Matt ... I'm honored to remember one of the best people I ever met, Greg Schnell.
Thank you Greg for always putting a smile on our faces, offering interesting stock news and organizing our Best of Friends Tuesday Group outings. You are truly one of a kind and will live on in the wonderful and adventurous Tuesday Group memories from the Netherlands, Alaska Cruise, Hawaii trip, Panama Canal cruise and so much more. Hugs to Cherry, Dayna and Kaylyn.
I am so deeply sorry for your loss and very sad for Greg’s passing.
I remember Greg being always so nice, kind, supportive and funny with an incredibly contagious laugh.
When Dayna invited me to the cabin, I had so much fun listening to Greg’s stories. When we went skiing, we all went on the lift and up the mountain thinking that I really could ski. But it turned out that I failed, miserably (and had a really bad fall).
I remember Greg being the whole time with me, teaching me how to ski and helping me come down the mountain. It took us a really long time to come down, but he stayed with me being so patient and supportive and kind.
He was such a great person and he will definitely be missed.
Akari
Dearest Cherry, Kaylyn & Dayna
I will always remember Greg as the person who gave the BEST HUGS, was always genuinely thrilled to see you and the person who would do ANYTHING to help you out!
I remember meeting up with you in London, The Netherlands and when we went on holidays in Egypt together and just had SOOO much fun!!
Recently, Greg & Cherry came to visit us in !Bearsted, Kent and we had such great fun catching up on life in the kitchen … and we had a looong wonderful meal at the Sportman near Whitstable Kent. It was just SO nice to spend relaxed time together!! On the last morning, we were talking over breakfast about the fact that we had shipped a new BBQ over from Texas and still hadn’t put it together. Greg said ‘Right, we’ll let’s do it together James’ and off they went and did it!! We’ve had so much enjoyment from the BBQ and this may still be in the box if it wasn’t for Greg! We loved him and will miss him!!. We love YOU!!
This is very sad to hear Dayna. I remember your dad being a funny man, especially on our class cycle/camping trips in Junior School in the Netherlands. Wishing the family strength at this time.
Rest in peace my friend.
Sam Malignaggi and family.
Greg Schnell was truly ‘one of a kind’ and we will miss him terribly. We met Greg (and Cherry) while living in our condos in Kierland Greens, Scottsdale, AZ. Greg and Cherry became wonderful friends of ours, and we spent countless hours enjoying life together.
There are not enough adjectives to describe Greg, but intelligent, funny, charming, caring, talented, and a student of life would be the start of a great list. Two remembrances of Greg may help fill in the picture of what a unique person he was.
In 2022 we traveled to Ireland with Greg, Cherry, and two other couples. We spent almost three weeks traveling around the country, playing golf, learning about Irish culture, drinking beer, and enjoying wonderful food. Greg could hit a golf ball farther than anyone we knew, and he relished the experience of not just playing golf but of embracing the history of the game. Greg’s thirst for knowledge about the country, its people, and the history of golf in Ireland added immensely to the joy we had on the trip.
The other remembrance demonstrates his incredible sense of humor. Greg loved to play a dice game called Farkle. and he took on the role of scorekeeper. In the game, a player could have good rolls or bad. Greg decided that the bad rolls should be noted in a ‘special’ way, so he had rubber stamps made with emoji’s carved in them. They became known as ‘poopemojis’, as one had the image of a person on a toilet. Another had an image of a dumpster on fire (thus a really bad roll caused a dumpster fire to be marked on the scorecard next to the player’s name). Playing Farkle with Greg was like being in attendance at a Saturday Night Live show. His banter while he was stamping poop-emojis and dumpster fires next to players names was hilarious. No one will ever be able to replicate his antics.
We will forever remember the great times we had with Greg. There is a spot in our hearts that will forever be filled with his memories.
Until we meet on a tee box in heaven, dear Greg.
With love,
Margaret and Greg Forsythe
To Greg's Family, please accept our deepest sympathies on his passing. Greg was such a tremendous person full of energy, positive outlook, a love of people and a passion for continued learning. "I still remember all those motivational tapes Greg would listen to!"
Please let me ramble a bit here! Greg was my first friend back in 1984 when I moved to Calgary as a summer student and worked for Shell on the same floor (24th) as Greg. Even though we did not work together, he took me under his wing to educated me on being a Calgarian! Now I did not follow his lead on getting a loan for Stampede week! We shared the enjoyment of golf and played regularly on weekends and through work. I was fortunate to have a career at Shell where Greg and I crossed paths as both of us move from Upstream to Downstream side of the company and worked closely together in the late 80's. I still remember the 'territory tours' we just had to take together and hit a new golf course each day. Living life to the fullest was Greg. I remember the weekends at the Osprey Chateau where Greg and Cherry would be great hosts. Greg educated me on how a bottle of Vodka and a watermelon are made for each other! We had many dinners at 'Trattoria de'tallia' on Crowfoot Trail back in the 80's and I still have the ceramic chicken for pouring red wine which will remind me of Greg. Monica and I were lucky to move back to Calgary in 1990 where we were able to see Greg and Cherry more often and watch each others family's grow. Our family became one person larger (don't ask how) at Greg and Cherry's wedding in Banff in 1991, what a 'Delightful' evening it was. We lost touch as Monica and I moved to Ottawa in 2001 but we are better people for knowing Greg and being able to share time in our younger years with him.
To Cherry, Dayna & Kaylyn, our thoughts are with you and we are so sorry for your loss. Love Monica and David Frost
Cherry, Dayna & Kaylyn,
I am so very sorry to hear of Greg's passing. He truly was a remarkable person. Kind, thoughtful, fiercely proud of you Cherry and your girls. Always smiling! I would always ask when golfing with him how everyone was doing and I could see his pride bubbling through when he spoke of all three of you and your accomplishments. You certainly all did make Greg's life complete. He did lead a wonderful life! I'm sure your grief is very heavy right now, know that everyone is thinking and praying for your family.

I was greatly saddened when I heard the news of Greg’s passing. I first met Greg when he invited me to speak at a 2-day seminar in Calgary about 12 years ago. To my total surprise, I was greeted at the airport with a welcome ceremony including the presentation of a cowboy hat! I have never experienced such a wonderful and unique welcome since.
That was typical of Greg. He was always so gentle and kind, and a good friend. Through his good offices, I was introduced to StockCharts.com and have been a contributor ever since. In the early days, we did a joint webinar every month, Greg as host and me as presenter. He made things move along so smoothly and was never afraid to ask the difficult questions that made the webinars a success.
He came to the markets at a relatively late stage but quickly grasped how things worked. I remember one instance when I was bullish on the metals and Greg asked me, “if the metals are going up, why are the miners, who benefit from higher prices going down?” Of course, he was right, and the metals eventually followed with a decline of their own.
Lisa and I send our heartfelt condolences to Cherry and the girls and are so sorry for your loss. You always know if there is anything we can do, we are here for you.
Thank you, Greg, for your friendship, kindness and good humour. You will be dearly missed.
We are so deeply saddened to hear of Greg's passing. He was such an amazing person. We send our sincere sympathy and love to Cherry and family.
We have lost a treasure. A wonderful human being. He was kind, generous, thoughtful, humorous and so full of life. We would meet periodically at Phil's for breakfast to catch up on things and share stories. So many laughs. Greg grew up in a beautiful family of loving sisters and parents and our family was blessed to live near them. There were so many happy times and memories of Greg and we will cherish them always. To Cherry, Dayna and Kaylyn, we offer our thoughts and prayers. You made Greg's life complete. Much love from Auntie Lynn and Uncle Don Schnell
Cherry, so sorry to hear of Greg's passing. Our condolences to you and your family. Greg was so fun to golf with and such a gentleman to be around. We will remember his kindness and his infectious smile....please know we are thinking of you during this difficult time.
To the family and friends of Greg. I am so saddened to learn of Greg's passing and send heartfelt condolences to you. For having never met Greg, he was a fine part of my life. A reliable and thoughtful source of guidance. His soothing voice carried across so sincere. We all can carry Greg's kindness forward.

I was saddened to hear the news of Greg's passing. I was a dedicated follower of his market analysis on StockCharts.com for close to 10 years. I still have copy of his "Stock Charts for Dummies" sitting on my bookshelf. I also had the pleasure of meeting Greg in person at a CMT event in Scottsdale, AZ in 2016. My sincere condolences to the family.
Condolences to Cherry and the family. I had the privilege of serving on the Board of Directors of Baltac Community Association with Greg. Greg made a significant contribution to Baltac, including championing the much needed community sewer project. He loved our lake and kept a close eye on our beach from his perch on Hilltop. He was kind and thoughtful and his balanced perspectives will be missed by all.
Greg was a great guy, with lots of fun times and memories - he always made life interesting.. We are so sorry to hear the news. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Sincere condolences to the whole family. Greg will remain for me an enormously kind human being. His patience, his joy of life and his dedication will remain forever engraved in my memory. I will think of you every day Greg, thank you for everything
This is sad news and I’m very sorry to hear of it. My heartfelt condolences to you Cherry, and to all of the family. Cherish his memory.
Good luck during all your difficult transitions over the next few years without Greg.
May your memories mix both the tears of sadness, with the joys of having lived so many wonderful times together.
Greg was a generous and kind person who was genuine to his core. He helped my life in many ways through his sharing and generosity I will miss him for all my days
I'm so thankful for knowing Greg. He was a genuinely beautiful human being, lifting up those around him and always approaching life with positivity and energy. Greg was a gracious host when I visited Calgary, he was a friendly spirit when I saw him at an industry conference, he was a warm and thoughtful colleague when we grabbed a Zoom call to talk markets. A conversation with Greg after a dinner in New York years ago led to me joining StockCharts as a contributor, and for that, along with a great many other things, I will always be thankful for my time with Greg Schnell.
Greg was like a father to me, changing my life in so many profound ways. It’s heartbreaking and infuriating that he was taken from us too soon. He had the kindest heart and was always there for everyone, a true friend and mentor. I love you, man. Thank you for everything. You’ll be missed by many. I’ll think of you every day.
Dwight
Dear Cherry, Dayna, Kaylyn and Matt,
What a devastating blow. Greg was such a dynamo, enthusiastic and full of good cheer. He will be sorely missed. My sincere condolences for your terrible loss.
Fondly,
Suzanne Allen
Gerri and I are saddened by your loss Cherry,Dayna, Kaylyn and Matt. Greg was a great friend through thick and thin. He worked tirelessly on his golf game not carrying how many balls that went astray. He was driven by many things in his career and finally Stock Charting at the end. Loved and respected by all who knew him. Evidently there are no such things and hugh’s hooks and water hazards in heaven. I’ll be looking for a game.
I am so sorry to hear this terrible news. I've always been a huge fan of Greg's technical work. When I was pursuing the CMT looking for a sponsor, Greg and I had a great telephone conversation and he shared some valuable insights I will always remember. Thanks for everything Greg.
Much love,
Murray Fichten, CMT

Tammy, Roxie, Tracy and Nat, I am so very sorry to learn of Greg's passing. We were all so close as kids with so many happy memories of visits to Torquay then the farm in Airdrie when we were very young. I specifically remember a game of kick the can with you girls, Jane and Greg on your front lawn at the farm just before we moved to Airdrie. We laughed and played so hard and with pure joy. I still smile when I think of it. You're in my thoughts.
My deepest sympathy to Greg’s family. We were the farm across from them. Rode on the same school bus. Saddened to hear of Greg’s passing
Candace Harnack

My thoughts and prayers are with your family. Sandy (Waldal ) and Randy Ewert and family
Our heart goes out to Cherry, Dayna, Kaylyn, Matt and family for your loss of Greg. He was an amazing husband, father, brother and friend. Boy he loved to drive, especially through the mountains to Windermere as he knew every curve and dipsy-doodle part of the road a head. Now he’s scoping out the roads in heaven and undoubtedly watching out for his family from above. I’ll miss those fast drives with you Greg, my friend.
Pat Hartigan and Betty Reiter
Our heart goes out to Greg's family. In the few short years we got to know Greg and Cherry we loved any time we could be with them. Have lasting memories of our golf trips and times together. Pray for strength for the family and send deep love.
