Obituary of Verral Lloyd Tink

Verral Tink, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at the age of 85 years. Verral was born in Rocky Mountain House, AB, on April 30, 1939. He lived, coached, worked, and raised a family in the Gilby area for over 50 years, until moving to Red Deer, AB, in 2015.

Verral is survived by his loving wife Lorna (nee Nelson), his sons, Garry (Dawn) and Gregory (Coryn); five grandchildren, Caitlyn (Peter), Kyle (Sarah), Lauren, Claire and Matthew; his sister Maureen (Wayne), brother Dennis, Lorna’s brothers, Don (Jeane) and Dave (Nancy); sister Leoma, and sister-in-law Bernice. He is also survived by numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as his handpicked bonus son Wade (Sheila) Mannix and many lifelong friends.

Verral was predeceased by his parents, brothers, Wade, Albert, and Bob; sister Lorraine, and brothers-in-law, Dale Cave, Doug and Dean Nelson.

Verral married Lorna in 1960, and he considered this his largest accomplishment for the rest of his life. Lorna was his best friend and the primary focus of his energy. Verral was a generous, gregarious and loyal husband, father, and friend, and was always ready to pitch in and fix anything or help anyone. He had a strong will, a quick wit, and a very clear sense of right and wrong, always ready to back his beliefs with action.

Verral believed in and was passionate about being a good neighbour and community member. He led by example by volunteering and pitching in whenever and wherever he could. He donated his time because he loved the people around him and wanted to make a difference. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family and friends and his passion to help those in need; like the many dogs he spoiled throughout the years.

Funeral Services will be held at Gilby Community Hall (Corner of Highway 12 and Range Road 34B, Eckville, AB) on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow immediately after.
