Obituary of Angus George Scarlett

The family shares with you the passing of George Scarlett at 92 years of age. George was born in Innisfail, AB, on September 25, 1931, and passed away in Calgary, AB, on Friday, June 7, 2024.
He is survived by his loving wife Cheryl, his sons, Joe and Alan of Calgary and daughter Marie (Morris) of Edmonton, along with three stepdaughters. He maintained a special relationship with his stepdaughter Margret (Steve) of Nanaimo, BC. He is also survived by his brothers, Ralph, Gordon (Joan), Glen and Russell (Myra), sister-in-law Anne, and extended family.
George was predeceased by Ila, the mother of his children and Lyn, the mother of his stepchildren.
George’s career was dedicated to the education system, beginning in a one-room school and finishing in Calgary, where he retired as a school administrator with the CBE. In retirement, George enjoyed many outdoor activities, often in the mountains. He built a cabin at Gull Lake, where he and Cheryl created treasured memories with friends and family.
George was known as an honest man, a respected educator, and loyal to his family and friends. His wit and sense of humor will be missed. He lived actively with cancer for nine years and was able to pass away at home, with Cheryl and his children by his side. His passing was peaceful and on his own terms.
In accordance with George’s wishes, no service will be held.
If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers which are gratefully declined due to allergies, memorial tributes may be made directly to a charity of your choice.
