“You’ll Never Walk Alone”

Brian Roger Kinder, 78, of Okotoks, AB, departed this life on Saturday, June 8, 2024, with his wife and family by his side.

Born and raised in Calgary, Brian attended Viscount Bennett High School and the University of Calgary. He articled and obtained his CA with Touche Ross (now Deloitte) and became a partner in 1977. He moved with his family to Regina, SK, and spent 18 years in The Queen City. He was an active participant in the community as President of the Regina Chamber of Commerce, the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club of Regina, and provincial and national politics. In 1998, he moved to Edmonton where he eventually retired from Deloitte after 36 years and continued his profession as a sole practitioner. He was actively involved in provincial and local politics and was a director of St. Joseph's Hospital in Edmonton.

In 2008, he returned to Calgary to be closer to his two daughters and granddaughters. Brian continued his private practice as well as his involvement with Rotary and politics. He retired in 2015 and enjoyed time with his family and friends, was an avid golfer, and enjoyed winter vacations in Arizona. In 2016, his dear wife of 47 years, Susan, passed away.

In 2018, Brian met and married Kathleen Roberts and moved to Okotoks, where he spent his time golfing, playing bridge, enjoying musical events, and time with family and friends. Not content to sit still in retirement, Kathy and Brian seized the opportunity to travel and went on many epic cruises together with family, including a Pacific crossing to Hawaii, the Panama Canal (twice), the Caribbean, and Alaska.

Being able to find love a second time in his life was a blessing for Brian and the family is eternally grateful for Kathy becoming part of his and their lives.

Brian is survived by his wife of six years Kathleen, daughters Diana (Stuart Parnell) and Sara; sisters Lorna, Leslie and Mary (Michael); brothers Glen (Fran) and Ross (Carey); granddaughters Audrey and Lucy; and an extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Roger, mother Gwen, and his wife of 47 years Susan.

A private memorial will be held by immediate family.
