Obituary of Leslie Ronald Armstrong

February 17, 1936 - St. Boniface, Manitoba

June 9, 2024 - Calgary, Alberta

 

Ron Armstrong, beloved husband of Madeleine Armstrong (nee Picard), of Calgary, AB, passed away at Swan Evergreen Village on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at the age of 88 years.

 

Ron was born in St. Boniface, MB, on February 17, 1936. He moved to Calgary, AB in 1956 and married Madeleine in 1989.

 

He was a Queens and Jacks Square Dance Club member for thirty years. Ron was also a longtime member of the Good Sam’s Pioneer RV Club and enjoyed many years camping.

 

Ron accomplished much throughout his life and was particularly proud of breeding and showing his Doberman Pinschers and he has many ribbons to showcase. Ron also had a passion for building and repairing bicycles with Tuxedo Cycle and Sports and continued his passion working out of his garage at home. Ron had a love for all Calgary sports teams, especially the Calgary Flames who he loved to cheer on loudly with a beer in his hand.

 

Ron was happiest when camping with his wife, and his many grandchildren. He enjoyed many walks throughout the day with his beloved Bichon named Kookie.

 

Besides his loving wife, Ron is survived by his son Andrew Armstrong of Calgary, AB, stepchildren, Michelle (Brian) and Dave (Terri); seven grandchildren, Michael (Kaisha), Krista, Alex, Nathan, Breanna, Brittany, and Rebecca (TJ); and one great-grandchild Rowan, all of Calgary. He is also survived by his one brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Shirley Armstrong of Winnipeg, MB.

 

Ron was predeceased by his parents, son Tracy Armstrong, sister Pat Armstrong, and his brother Walter Armstrong.

 

A Celebration of Ron’s Life will be announced at a later date.
