Obituary of Sherrill Ann Leimer

July 2, 1939 – Moncton, New Brunswick

June 12, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

Sherrill “Sal” Leimer (nee Wheaton), of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully, with family present at her side, on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at the age of 84 years.

Born in New Castle, NB, Sal was the middle child with two sisters.

She was predeceased by her younger sister, Gwen, and survived by her older sister Zandra. Sal came from a Maritime background which she shared with her family through traditions and cuisine.

Her family meant everything to her; we are all who we are today because of her spirited nature and unwavering love. Sal had a short career as a teacher in NB, she then met the love of her life, Helmut (Bob) Leimer and they married on July 2, 1960, and began their life adventure.

Bob was serving in the Canadian Military which took them throughout Europe and then settling in Calgary to raise their family. Sal and Bob are survived by three sons, Ken (Robbie Stasik), Dan (Maureen), and Jeff (Kim). She is also survived by four grandchildren, Lee (Tracy and Audri Gorrie), Christy (Darrin Thompson), Erin, and Hanna. There are also two great-grandchildren, Tanner Leimer and Brooklyn Thompson.

Sal loved the simpler things in life and had a carefree spirit, she and Bob loved their retirement at Gull Lake and shared their passion of making wooden and hand-painted creations. Sal and Bob are reunited forever now as their love story continues. She will be forever missed, but her legacy lives on in our hearts.
