Obituary of Ronald James Hopf

 June 10, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

 

Ronald Hopf of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2024, at the age of 86 years.

 

Ron was a devoted husband to Grace Panko for over 50 years. He was a loving, supportive father to his three sons, Jared, Rylan, and Kelson Hopf.

 

Ron and his family moved to Calgary from Stratford, ON, when he was a young man. He attended NAIT where he studied photography. He then went on to work as a photographer of external objects and landscapes for the star shows at the Calgary Centennial Planetarium for nearly 29 years.

 

In his youth, Ron was an avid hiker and mountain climber, enjoying the beauty and wonder of nature while becoming a lifetime member of the Youth Hostel Association. Ron was well known throughout the community of Sunnyside, where he lived for over fifty years. He was always seen biking through the area and was greeted kindly wherever he went.

 

He will be loved and missed by all his family and friends.
