November 3, 2024 - Okotoks, Alberta

Florence Scott-Wilson passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at the age of 65 in Calgary, Alberta. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on March 17, 1959, Florence was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

Sports were a significant part of Florence's life, with volleyball, basketball, and walking half marathons being her favourites. She proudly helped lead both her Dakota Lancers High School Volleyball and Basketball teams to Provincial Championships, a testament to her team spirit and competitive nature. Some of Florence's most cherished memories were her high school trip to France, as well as her time living in Quebec, Toronto and Victoria. Her adventurous spirit led her to embark on a trip to Colombia with Canada World Youth, this eye-opening experience influenced her throughout the rest of her life.

Florence was a talented bookkeeper with a remarkable career, remembered by her clients for her loyalty, the deep connections they built, and the pride she took in every aspect of her work. Early in her career, she had the rare opportunity to travel with the Ontario Premier during an election campaign. Florence was very generous with her time, always dedicating herself to helping those around her. She volunteered for many years with the Foothills Soccer Club and her children’s schools. As a dedicated member of parent councils, she served as treasurer for many years, making a lasting impact.

Florence was a devoted mother who placed her family at the centre of her life, known for her boundless love, compassion, and kindness. Her family trips to Canmore, Fairmont, Nelson, and Sicamous were always filled with laughter, games, special dinners, and beautiful walks. She had a deep love for the outdoors, often spending her time hiking, camping and walking her dogs with her husband, family and friends.

Florence was an avid reader, cherished by two book clubs that both thrived for over 20 years, a testament to her love of literature and enduring friendships. She had a great passion for animals, music, and gardening, always finding joy in the simple pleasures of life. Above all, she lived by her strong principles of loyalty, honesty, and integrity, which touched everyone who knew her.

Florence is survived by her loving husband, Jeffrey, her son Steven (Jessica), daughters Joanna and Hailey (Ryan), and her grandson Levi. She was predeceased by her parents Margaret and Walter Scott. She is also survived by her brothers Joe (Diane), Jack (Jackie), and Tom (Annabel), and her sisters Anne Marie (Paul), Jennifer (Terry), and Gisele (Glen). She will be dearly missed by her brother-in-law Dan and his wife Gloria. Florence leaves behind her beloved pets, Stanley and Zara.

Florence will be most remembered for her unwavering love and loyalty towards her family and friends. Her joyful spirit and kind heart will be deeply missed by all who knew her. As Jane Austen once said, "There is nothing I would not do for those that are really my friends. I have no notion of loving people by halves, it is not my nature." Florence will always be remembered as a true and loyal friend to all.

Rest in peace, dear Florence. Your memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved you.
