Condolences
My heart hurt a lot to hear the news of Fred's death. He was a talented art teacher and changed the course of people's lives. May his memory be a blessing.

Fred was such a great teacher at QEH! I was so shy back in High School yet he was always so supportive and encouraging and didn’t take any crap from students slacking off or being disruptive! He was amazing! Please accept my sincerest condolences and deepest sympathies to his family! Godspeed Fred!
Dear Jack/Fred I feel like an absolute a****** I didn't know Fred had passed on the 12th...which was my birthday . Jack, I just want you to know that I thought a lot of Fred. He had been my grade primary teacher for Art which turned me on to the love of Art. I remember the first time I saw him at St. Catherine's; I thought he was Jesus. He came in to the class with the his olive skin beard, long hair, Buffalo sandals and super wide jeans and I just thought man this is Jesus!
Then I had him for high school art for 2 years which I absolutely adored as well. I ran into him a couple times when I was on Council and we would chat about what our lives had become and then he became friends with me on Facebook. I retired due to health issues and took up acrylic painting and Fred commented on my improvement over the last year.
I didn't know he moved to Calgary till I looked at his profile one day wondering where he was. My memories of art therapy, learning pottery, and class with music! He always used to call me Dawnsie poo poo lamikins...hence that is why I wished him Happy Birthday on his Facebook.
Please know that Fred had a profound influence on his students. I can attest to that.
