Obituary of Julian Rae Audette

December 11, 1934 – Regina, Saskatchewan

June 15, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

 

Rae Audette, beloved husband of Frida Audette (nee Larsen), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at the age of 89 years.

 

Rae was born in Regina, SK, on December 11, 1934. He was an accomplished and respected member of the aviation community. He dedicated 47 years to his career as a pilot, including positions as Co-Pilot with Wardair, Chief Pilot with Pan Canadian Petroleum, and Chief Pilot/Aviation Manager with CP Ltd. He was also a proud member of the Canadian Business Aircraft Association, serving as Director and President, as well as a founder of the International Business Aviation Council. Rae also volunteered at The Soup Kitchen at St. Andrew’s Cathedral in Victoria, B.C.
 

Aside from his professional achievements, Rae also had a passion for travelling and boating, spending ten years cruising the lakes and canals of Europe. He was a true lover of flying, boating, fishing, and wine, and he shared these passions with his family and friends.


Besides his loving wife, Rae is survived by his two sons, Alex (Yuki) Audette of Japan and Chris (Amorn) Audette of Thailand; his two daughters, Sara (Howard) Randall of England and Catherine (Dan) Eisner of Calgary; his four grandchildren, Jacob and Michael Eisner, and Amy and Emma Fordham; and his great-granddaughter Everly McKenna. He will also be dearly missed by his brother Robert Audette of St. Albert, AB, and sister Michelle Kuntz of Regina, SK.

Rae was predeceased by his parents, Julien and Myrtle Audette; his brother Douglas Audette, and his sister Joan Crawford.

 

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at St. Mary’s Cathedral (219 – 18th Avenue S.W., Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.

 

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Cathedral (219 – 18th Avenue S.W., Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.
