Obituary of Robert Burnley Jackson

June 17, 2024 - Calgary, Alberta


Robert Jackson, also lovingly known as "Bob" by his family and friends, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2024, at the age of 91.


Born in Indian Head, SK, on December 4, 1932, Bob graduated from Estevan Collegiate and went on to work for various oil and gas companies including Franklin Supply, Chaparral Oilfield Services, and Argo Sales. He was also a member of the Oilmen's Curling Association and the Oilmen's Golfing Association. Bob was known for his kind heart, volunteering with the Salvation Army Christmas Kettle.


He had a passion for golfing, curling, camping, barbequing, and fishing. Bob's biggest achievement was co-owning Chaparral Oilfield Services with five of his friends. He also enjoyed unforgettable vacations with his family in places such as Whispering Pines at Mara Lake, BC, Hawaii, Alaska, Arizona, and California.


Bob is survived by his loving wife Dorothy, and his children, Randy Jackson (Michael Huyzer), Sandy Ives, and Heather Truscott (Ron Truscott). He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Natasha Jackson, Nicholas Jackson, Kiana Robson (Thomas Robson), and Haley Truscott; great-grandchild James Jackson, and his brother Tom Jackson. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Judd Jackson, Bill Jackson, Peggy Bishop, and Ruth Hurley.


Bob will be most remembered for his love for life, friends, and family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Rest in peace, Bob.


Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. James Catholic Church (5504 – 20th Street S.W., Calgary, AB T3E 1R2) on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall.
