Condolences
Dear Dr. Dorothy John!! What an accomplished person! She demonstrated strength, stability, youthfulness! Age was never a concern or issue to her. Aunty Dorothy I so think like you on that matter! And Aspire to accomplish as you did, never giving up. Mother Rhoda is proud of you. Of course your Dad too. Reunite with them in Christ! From your niece Brenda and the McCree Family in Trinidad. Rest In Peace. Rise in Christ.
My condolences to the family and friends of Dr. Dorothy E. John on her passing. I first met Dorothy in Calgary in the early 2000s when she was a Ph.D. student at Oxford. At that time I was teaching Sociology at the University of Calgary and her research on Caribbean diasporas and transnationalism overlap with some of my research interests. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting Dorothy and engaging in academic conversations with her at my University office and having lunch together on occasion on campus. Moreover, Dorothy even presented a guest lecture on her research at that time in one of my classes where she thoroughly impressed the students and me with her profound knowledge. Unfortunately, I lost contact with Dorothy after she graduated from Oxford but I have very fond memories of her kindness and congeniality and overall how wonderful a person she was. I am so glad that I had the opportunity to meet her and she will be sorely missed in this world.

My condolences to Juliette, Aunty Janette, Uncle Clinton, family and loved ones near and far. I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Aunty Dorothy.
I first communicated with aunty Dorothy in 2001 and she responded to me with such warmth. We spoke about life family school and work. Actually, she was just about to begin a new journey in her life, attending Oxford. I commended her on taking such a step at that point in her life. Aunty Dorothy sounded so excited. I remember she sent me a message sharing her interview process, and about her walk around Oxford, the buildings, people she met and things she observed while there. I truly admired her for taking such a brave step.
I am sorry we never got to meet each other in person but will definitely remember our conversations, and will hold on to her email message response to me.
Aunty Dorothy, you did well, you have contributed to the lives of many others. You used your gifts and talents to make a difference in the world. You will be missed and lovingly remembered by your family, daughter Juliette, siblings…loved ones and friends near and far.
Aunty Dorothy, RIEP
Love,
Your niece Valarie McCree
