Obituary of Patricia Roslyn Rasmussen

July 15, 1947 - Leader, Saskatchewan

June 20, 2024 - Calgary, Alberta

Patricia Rasmussen (nee Roberts), beloved wife of Ronald Earl Rasmussen, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at the age of 76 years.

Patricia was born in Leader, SK, on July 15, 1947. She moved to Calgary, AB, in 1951 and, then in 1984, Patricia married Ron Rasmussen.

Patricia obtained her Unit Clerk designation and worked as a Unit Clerk at the General Hospital for over 25 years. After retiring, she worked at STARS Air Ambulance as an Industry Call Taker. Always a thoughtful and dedicated employee, several of her co-workers became lifelong friends.

Pat was a kind and generous person who enjoyed spending time with her many friends and family. In her younger years, she spent weekends with Ron enjoying nature at their trailer in Sundre, AB. She later took up golfing, never discouraged when she had to pick up her ball and move to the next hole. Golf was always followed by her favourite part, lunch with the ladies, a tradition she continued even after she could no longer play.

Pat loved animals, particularly hummingbirds, owls, and her Golden Retriever Eddy. Eddy, never one to leave Pat’s side, could be found patiently waiting for her in the back seat of her car.

Nothing made Aunt Pat happier than spending time with her four grandnieces and nephews and she spent hours in arenas, fields, and diamonds, always with a stack of loonies and toonies ready to reward them for their goals.

Pat shared a special relationship with her sister and best friend Sherrill. For the last 20 years, they were rarely apart and spent hours going to garage sales, trying their luck at the casino, lunching with the ladies, and spending quiet nights at home. They took many adventures together and although the distance of their travels shortened as they got older, they never tired of packing a bag, in search of new fortunes and special treasures in the local stores.

Patricia is survived by her sister Sherrill Makin; her niece Terri (Jimmy); her nephew Todd (Shawna); her three grandnieces Martina, Anna, and Abby and her one grandnephew Lorenzo.

Patricia was predeceased by her husband, Ronald Rasmussen and her parents Edward and Viola Roberts.
