Condolences
A sad day to hear of the passing of a friend. Brian Younger was part of our "pack" since the late 1980s. For 30 years, "Youngee" was always there for every football tailgater or when I had an extra ticket for a hockey game, he'd be the one I called. He liked sports. We had to drag him to Coach Tony's football parties and once there, he'd relax and have a good time. He liked the Grey Cup and travelled to them for the festivities, the atmosphere and the game. Brian had a friend nicknamed "The Unibomber" and they took a lot of trips together. His friend passed away 10 years ago and Brian really felt that loss. His standard "uniform" was jeans and sweatshirts and I did see him in a suit once for his father's funeral. It's been five months since his passing and it's still sad. My sincere condolences to family and his many friends. Lots of great memories and Brian will be missed by many -- even though he didn't think so.
I was sad to hear that my old elementary, Junior high and grade 10 buddy Brian passed away. When I moved to Elbow Park in 6th Grade, Brian was one of the first kids I got to know in the neighborhood.
I played hundreds of hours of hockey, soccer, basketball and every other sport with Brian. He was a dang good athlete and smart; with him we won a lot of championships. He was a very good student.
My life was enriched knowing Brian and I wish all the family peace and Gods love .
I knew Brian both from the Oakridge Dog Park and from the Soccer Centre. At the off leash area he was always quick with a treat for our dog Lucy and, of course, we reciprocated for Lacey. He always had time for a chat and was so patient with and devoted to Lacey. He clearly worked to bring some joy to others lives with his extensive light display that he put on at Christmas! At the Soccer Centre he was at home and always had a smile on his face when I saw him there. He touched many lives and will be missed. Condolences to the family.
I met Brian at the Oakridge Dog Park and he quickly became a friend, as that who Brian was. When I had Coco, my Frenchie she always ran to Brian cause she knew he had treats. My new Pup Stella, same thing, she would run far to find Brian and often when I was calling her I’d hear Brian yell, “ she found me!”
Brian loved to come to the park and talk sports. I know, I and several others would always ask if he worked at UPS. No matter the weather, Brian would ALWAYS wear shorts!!
You will be missed my friend, Godspeed to you. ❤️
Brian coached me for many years and was such a wonderful coach and person. So sad to hear this news, but thankful that I got to spend so many seasons having him coach me and having a beer with him after the game.
I’m so sad to hear of Brian’s passing. We grew up together - went to the same schools, and have run into each other a few times as adults.. He was always so nice, and I have fond memories of our youth. He will be missed. My condolences to the family.
Brian was a great friend growing up in Calgary. I have many fond memories from the countless hours we spent together as teammates or competitors playing pick-up and competitive soccer, basketball, tennis and many other sports and games or just hanging out. A highlight for me of our high school years was spending a long weekend with Clint, Dick, and Brian at the Younger cabin in Vernon. Rest in peace Brian.
Brian was my coach with Eastside eagles for 3 or 4 years. Had the privilege of winning a city championship with him in 1999
Great all-around guy, We will miss you Brian
Brian was an incredible and kind man. He was a constant in so many lives as a dedicated coach and friend, I will miss his smile and community spirit.
Best friend anyone could wish for, so many great memories, best one when we attended a liverpool Everton derby at Anfield and of course Mr younger had to root for Everton just to annoy me ,wish he was still here to keep annoying me, love you Brian and will miss you so much YNWA.
I did not know Brian for very long but was privileged to have join his soccer team recently, he was very kind, approachable, knowledgeable and generous. He will be deeply missed and I hope our soccer team can continue making him proud for this season and many seasons to come. We play in honor of Brian's memory.
