Marion Henwood

Obituary of Marion Beverly Henwood

July 2, 1933 - Springhill, Nova Scotia

June 21, 2024 - Calgary, Alberta

Marion Henwood (nee Noiles), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2024, at the age of 90 years.

She was born in Springhill, Nova Scotia, on July 2, 1933. Marion and her husband and son Doug, moved to Calgary, AB, in late 1956 - early 1957.

Marion accomplished much throughout her life, raising a family of five children, looking after the family home and later working for the Calgary Board of Education as a custodian. One of her proudest achievements was being employed by CBE where she worked until she retired at age 65. She developed many close ties with her colleagues and the school staff.

Marion enjoyed working in her home and yard. She got great satisfaction from a clean orderly home and a beautiful yard. Marion especially loved the holidays, particularly Halloween and Christmas. She loved to decorate for her family, herself, and even the neighbours.

Marion’s greatest love was for her children, their spouses, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Family was everything to Marion, they brought her the greatest joy in life.

While Marion travelled to many locations in Western Canada and the United States, her most memorable vacation was returning to Nova Scotia in 2017.

She will be most remembered for her love of family. Anything else she accomplished in life was always secondary to her family.

Marion is survived by her five children, Douglas (Cindy) of Nanaimo, BC, Debbie of Airdrie, AB, Linda (Rich) of Calgary, AB, Tom (Stam) of Calgary, AB, and John (Denise) of Calgary, AB; her grandchildren, Jodi of Nanaimo, BC, Jamie of Nanaimo, BC, Robert (Kallie) of Parksville, BC, Tyler (Amber) of Calgary, AB, Rachel of Calgary, AB, Evan of Calgary, AB, and Brent of Calgary, AB, as well her two sweet great-granddaughters, Theia and Esme of Parksville, BC. She is also survived by her niece Mary (Larry), and their children, Karen and Larry; her nephew Fred Noiles, and his daughter Izabella.

Marion was predeceased by her parents and siblings.
