Obituary of Sandy Menzies

Alexander (Sandy) Menzies of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2024, at the age of 72 years.

Sandy was born in Winnipeg, MB, on March 12, 1952. He later moved to Calgary, where he embarked on several vocations, including selling real estate and running a property management company. However, he most enjoyed working for the City of Calgary and Remington Corp., where he retired as VP of Development.

Sandy greatly enjoyed hosting parties and get-togethers with his family and many friends in Manitoba and Alberta. Although he traveled extensively, vacationing in Europe and Asia, he most cherished camping with his trailer and taking motorcycle trips with friends across Canada and the United States. He loved to ride his bike and meditate in the very early hours of the morning. He also had a passion for electronics and technology, always staying current with the latest advancements.

He is survived by his two sisters, Claire Menzies and Margaret (David) Callbeck of Calgary; his niece and nephew, Christyne and James Callbeck, both of Calgary; and his nephew Cameron Callbeck, his partner Gesa Eirund, and their daughter Zoe, who live in Zurich, Switzerland.

Sandy was predeceased by his parents, Agnes and Duncan Menzies, of Winnipeg, MB.

A Celebration of Sandy’s Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Deerfoot South, 12281 – 40th Street SE, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
