Obituary of Selby Roy Codd

March 2, 1930 – Lethbridge, Alberta

June 22, 2024 – Black Diamond, Alberta

With great sadness, we, the family, announce the passing of Selby “Roy” Codd of Airdrie, AB, who passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the age of 94 years, with loved ones at his side.

Roy lived an amazing life. Growing up in Lethbridge, AB, Roy and his brothers, Bert and Dale, and mother, Lillian, spent time with cousins, aunties, and uncles. He became a Master Electrician and owned his own business from 1972 until he retired in 1985. He was a past President of the Electrical Contractors Association of Alberta.

Roy raised his family on an acreage in Balzac, AB, built two acreages, and then retired in Airdrie. Roy and Edith loved to travel and were snowbirds for many years. They loved to dance and socialize and were contributing members of their communities.

Roy was a kind and generous soul down deep. A true character with a direct approach to life, he took no bull and told you what he thought, had a great sense of humour, which most took exception to, haha!!

Miss you, Dad, and we love you!

Roy is survived by their four children, Robyn, Sandra (Phil), Terry, and Rory; three grandchildren, Felicia (Kyle), Chevonne, and Katherine; and great-grandson Austin. He was predeceased by his beautiful wife Edith, mother Lillian, and brothers, Bert and Dale.

Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Roy’s family here.

In living memory of Roy Codd, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Airdrie, 300 Towerlane Drive, Airdrie, AB T4B 3L8, Telephone: 403-948-1100.
