Bruce Larsson

Obituary of Bruce Erik Larsson

August 26, 1956 – Sudbury, Ontario

June 25, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

Bruce Larsson, beloved husband of Katherine Larsson, father of Elizabeth and Paula Larsson; and grandfather of James, Rhys, and Atlas, passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at the age of 67.

He will be remembered for his passion for life and family; his love for fishing, and scotch; his time spent with best friends playing pool, golf, and Magic; and his volunteer work with Marriage Encounter, Feed the Hungry, and with the Catholic community in Calgary.

In his volunteer work, Bruce often quoted John 10:10, "Jesus states, 'I have come that they may have life, and have it more abundantly.'" He lived this sentiment to the fullest, spreading love, joy, and kindness wherever he went. Incredibly generous, he was always willing to lend a hand to a neighbour in need, or offer his time to family and friends with an infectious laugh and a smile.

Bruce was born on August 26, 1956, in Sudbury, ON, to Frank and Norma Larsson. He graduated from school and went on to work for IBM, where he met the love of his life, Kath. They built a home and life together in Calgary, working as consultants and raising two daughters. Bruce was a proud member of Catholic Marriage Encounter and Engaged Encounter, where he and Kath volunteered their time to help others strengthen their relationships, an asset in their 44 years of marriage.

In his free time, Bruce enjoyed fishing, pool, golf, indulging in good scotch, and spending time with his loved ones while camping at Kikomun Creek. He was a dedicated family man and cherished time spent with his wife, Kath, their two daughters, Beth and Paula, and raising three grandchildren, James, Rhys, and Atlas.

Bruce will be remembered by his brother, Kenny and two sisters, Connie and Sherry. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Norma Larsson.

His absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him, but his memory will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of those who were lucky enough to know him. He touched the hearts of all those who met him, and had a life lived in service to others, finding joy in all things, no matter how small.

We love you Bruce, we love you Dad, we love you Poppa. Rest in peace.
