Obituary of Blake Forrest

October 25, 1940 – Halifax, Nova Scotia

July 1, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

Blake Forrest passed away peacefully at his home in Calgary, AB, on Monday, July 1, 2024, at the age of 83 years.

Blake is survived by nieces, Sharon (Guy) and Carol (George); grandniece Roxanne, and grandnephew Jeremy. Blake valued education highly; he received a degree in chemical engineering from Dalhousie University and always spoke fondly of his alma mater. He spent 50 years working in his field, first in Sarnia and then later in Calgary. Blake took excellent care of his mother, Hazel Forrest, who lived in good health to the age of 106 years. He was a dedicated uncle to his nieces, always ready to talk and listen.

Blake was an avid sailor and long-time member of a prominent Calgary sailing club, most recently as club historian. He loved travelling with ventures around the world, including Australia, Japan, Costa Rica, Canada, the US, and the UK. He liked to tell the story of when travelling by train across Australia, he came across the small railway town of Forrest. During his years in Calgary, he became a true Westerner, frequently attending the Calgary Stampede, including in 2023 with his family.

Blake will be laid to rest at the Fairview Lawn Cemetery in Halifax.
