Obituary of Darcey Scott Reist

It is with deep sorrow our family announces the passing of Darcey Scott Reist on Monday, July 1, 2024, at the age of 46 years.

Darcey was born on April 12, 1978, in Calgary, AB, and later relocated with his family to Airdrie, AB, where he attended Bert Church High School.

Darcey is best remembered for his charisma. Everywhere he went, he would strike up a conversation with a stranger and effortlessly make a new friend. Darcey had a love for nature and a constant thirst for knowledge that made all conversations interesting and impactful. He was fun, goofy, and had an adventurous spirit — a spontaneous road trip to Vancouver stopping at every roadside attraction and waterfall along the way — because why not?! Darcey also had a remarkable knack for learning new skills. Self-taught in many areas, he had a particular talent for mechanics, always eager to understand how things worked and he liked to share his abilities, helping others whenever he could.

Darcey will be remembered by his daughters, Autumn and Addison; his mother Norine, his brothers, Michael and Cory; as well as many extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his father Donald Reist.

A small Visitation for close family and friends will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Airdrie, 300 Towerlane Drive, Airdrie, AB) on Friday, July 19, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
