Judith Seyffert

Obituary of Judith Maria Seyffert

January 3, 1940 – Brakpan, South Africa

July 3, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Judith Maria "Judy" Seyffert, who left us peacefully on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at the age of 84 years.

Born to Ampie and Polly de Bruyn, the third of six children in Brakpan, South Africa, Judy's life was a testament to love, dedication, and elegance.

Judy graduated from Stoffberg Girls High School and, together with her husband, pursued a successful career in real estate development and sales. She enjoyed crochet, cross stitch, knitting, and sewing. In her younger years, Judy loved dancing at Arthur Murray with her husband Chris and became an avid sports follower after his passing. She was a big fan of hockey and Formula 1 racing. Judy also found great joy in music, playing both the piano and organ, until she lost her hearing.

Being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was so important to Judy that she made the courageous move across the world at the age of 73, leaving behind everything she knew, including many friends and siblings, to be with her children. Her most memorable vacations included two trips to Europe during the early seventies, which she often spoke about and cherished dearly. She also came to love Mexico, vacationing there a few times and was looking forward to the next visit.

Judy is survived by her son, Carel, and daughter-in-law, Susan, from Calgary, AB; her daughter, Carien Moolman, and son-in-law, Matt Moolman, also from Calgary; her grandchildren, Candice Schoenrock (Okotoks), Lelanie McNabb (Las Vegas), Elsabe Seyffert (Calgary), Joe Moolman (Calgary), and Chris Seyffert (Calgary); and her great-grandchildren, Logan Schoenrock and Ashton Schoenrock (Okotoks), and Laken McNabb (Las Vegas). She is also survived by her brother, John de Bruyn, and sister, Joan Geldenhuys, both of Brakpan, South Africa, and numerous extended family and friends.

Judy was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband of 38 years, Chris, who passed away at the age of 60, her mother and father, and her siblings, Boetie de Bruyn, Danie de Bruyn, and Monica Smit.

A special thank you to all our family and friends, both local and abroad, for their support and messages during this time.

Judy will be most remembered for her impeccable sense of style and elegance. She always exuded grace and sophistication, impressing everyone with her perfectly put-together outfits and flawlessly styled hair. Her attention to detail set her apart, making her effortlessly chic and polished in every way.

Rest in peace, Judy. Your elegance and love will forever remain in our hearts.
