Obituary of Ray Brady

January 23, 1938 – Cork, Ireland

July 12, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

Ray Brady, beloved husband of Maureen Brady (nee Keogh), of Calgary, Alberta, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 12, 2024, at the age of 86 years.

Predeceased by his parents, Michael and Bridget Brady, Ray is survived by his daughter, Carole, his son Sean and families, as well as his siblings, John, Michael, and Mary.

Ray was born in Cork, Ireland, on January 23, 1938, and he grew up in Dagenham, Essex. As a youngster, he loved to play football and played in a number of local teams. Most notable amongst them was Ubique United, which he captained to FA Sunday Cup glory in 1966.

He accomplished much throughout his life, from being a member of the Worshipful Company of Woolmen, to participating in a local Morris Dancing group. He was especially proud of receiving the Freedom of the City of London in 1985.

Ray worked for 30 years at the Ford Motor Company in Dagenham, and later worked for the Royal Mail in London before retiring and moving to Canada in 2005.

He was a truly kind and selfless man, with a great sense of humour, never missing an opportunity to make those around him laugh. Ray made many life long friends, and a family who loved him deeply.

He will be deeply missed.
