Obituary of Helene Cinnamon
September 26, 1945 – Nottingham, England
July 15, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
Helene Cinnamon of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 15, 2024, at the age of 78 years. We thank the incredible and compassionate care of the Agape Hospice Staff who kept her so very comfortable.
She was born in Nottingham, England, on September 26, 1945, and immigrated to Ottawa from England when she was twelve years old with her brother Tony, mother Margaret, and father Frank Francis. Helene was the best mother anyone could ask for and for 66 years she shared a close friendship with her best friend Wendy Hanley of Ottawa and many great friends across the globe.
Helene was most proud of her immediate and extended family… too many Cinnamons to mention! She was loved by all who knew her. She had a terrific sense of humour and volunteered helping cheer up patients and residents by bringing in her beautiful and kind Golden Retriever “Mia” into the local hospitals and seniors’ homes. Mia and Helene were inseparable. The amazing Mia passed away less than a month before Helene and they are together once again, such a companionate and loving pair.
She is survived by her brother Tony Francis of Sardis, BC; her two daughters, Veronica Cinnamon-McLellan (Jim) of Washago, ON, and Cindy Cinnamon (Gord Walker) of Calgary, AB; four grandchildren, Jessica McLellan and her partner Ken Kuchma of Ingersoll, ON, Jamie McLellan and her husband Rob Paquette of Horseshoe, ON, Matthew Walker of London, England, and Ryan Walker of Calgary, AB; one great-granddaughter Lena Paquette of Horseshoe, ON, and granddogs Houston of Ingersoll, ON, Louis of Horseshoe, ON, and Kali of Calgary, AB. Helene was predeceased by her grandson Chis Walker of Vancouver, BC.
At Helene’s request, there will be no memorial service.
