Obituary of Galbert Aubin
September 11, 1935 – Bonville, Ontario
July 16, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
Galbert “Gabe” Aubin, beloved husband of Marjorie Aubin, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at the age of 88 years. Gabe was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Gabe was born on September 11, 1935, to parents Albert Aubin and Blanche Fortier. He moved from his hometown of Martintown, ON, to Calgary in 1962, where he had a long career as a mechanic. In his retirement, he worked at Heritage Park in Calgary, keeping the SS Moyie running smoothly.
Gabe was a dedicated member of the Friends of Haiti Canada organization and spent much of his time rebuilding computers and taking them to countless children in Haiti. In his free time, he enjoyed painting, working on computers, and travelling. Gabe's passion in life was his family, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Gabe was an avid traveller, and most memorably travelled to all seven continents with his beloved wife, Marge.
Gabe is survived by his wife, Marjorie Aubin, his son Andy (Elaine), and his daughters Lori (Mike and children Emma, Olivia, and Liam) and Carolin (David), plus four sisters and two brothers. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Clare, Erin (Dylan), Hannah, Alana (Kyle), Colette, Geoffrey, and Autumn, and one great-grandchild, Hudson.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the family and friends that have supported and loved Gabe throughout his life, and a special thank you to the kind staff on the second floor of Auburn Heights Retirement Residence. He will be deeply missed by all and will be remembered for his sense of humour, his dedication to his family, and his love of sweets.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to build the Mr. Gabe Agricultural Centre in Haiti in memory of Gabe:
