Obituary of Shirley Ann Oke

July 16, 2024 - Calgary, Alberta

Shirley Ann Oke, beloved wife of the late John Douglas (Doug) Oke, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at the age of 84 years.

She was born and raised in Lindsay, ON. After attending Ryerson Technical Institute and receiving a diploma in early childhood education, in Toronto, ON, she returned to Lindsay, where she married Doug. Shirley and Doug had two children, Leslie and Dave, before moving to Calgary in 1970. Their third child, Rich, was born in Calgary in 1971. Shirley devoted her life to caring for her children, home, garden, and grandchildren.

Shirley is survived by three children, Leslie (Darrell) Stonehouse, David (Kathy) Oke, and Richard (Deb) Oke; and six grandchildren, Sarah and Grace Stonehouse, John “Jack”, Abigail and Mitch Oke, and Piper Oke.

She was predeceased by her husband Doug on May 18, 2011.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
