Antonietta Amatori

Obituary of Antonietta Pasqualina Amatori

March 9, 1930 – San Bartolomeo in Galdo, Benevento, Italy

July 17, 2024  Airdrie, Alberta

Antonietta Pasqualina Amatori, a loving wife, devoted mother, caring grandmother, and cherished great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at the age of 94 years, with her daughter Rita by her side. Antionetta was born in San Bartolomeo in Galdo, Italy, and went on to make her home in Calgary, moving to Airdrie for the remaining four years of her life. Our mother was a devoted Catholic with a strong love for the Lord and sought out his faith before everything throughout her life.

Antonietta, known to many as Pasqualina, was a member of the Mary Mother of the Redeemer church and a dedicated volunteer with the City View Society. She was also a skilled seamstress who took great pride in her work, sewing her daughter’s and daughter-in-law’s wedding dresses. Her greatest achievement, however, was her family. She loved teaching her grandchildren how to make pasta and spending time with them in her enormous garden. Pasqualina also enjoyed cooking and baking. Her door was always open for an espresso and cookies.

In her later years, Pasqualina enjoyed traveling, particularly with her sister Filomena. They visited relatives in Argentina, Germany, Switzerland, and, of course, Italy. Her trip to Medjugorje and the Holy Land will forever be the highlight of all the trips she had taken.

She is survived by her son, Pasquale (Janine) Amatori, daughters, Celestina (Francesco) Mansolino, Rosanna (Bartolomeo) Ricciardi, and Rita (Robert) Cahoon; seven grandchildren, Donato Mansolino, David Mansolino, Nancy Bruneau, Thomas Ricciardi, Jacob Sirianni, Joshua Sirianni, Grace Sirianni, and Daniel Sirianni; three great-grandchildren, Aviva Bruneau, Ella Bruneau, and Elias Sirianni St John; and her sister, Filomena Sangregorio. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Antonio, and her parents, Maria and Antonio Cifelli.

The family would like to thank Dr. Soolsma and his team for their compassionate care and friendship over the years. They would also like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Airdrie Care Community for making Pasqualina’s last days blessed and peaceful.

A day of duty done; a day of rest begun.
