Obituary of Michelle Anna Phillips

September 28, 1967 – Calgary, Alberta

June 28, 2024 – Montreal, Quebec

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected but peaceful passing of Michelle Anna Phillips on June 28, 2024, at her home in Montreal, Quebec. Born on September 28, 1967, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, she was a loving mom to Greta Aubrey, of London, England, a beloved daughter of the late Joseph Phillips and Marie Phillips, of Calgary, Alberta, and a devoted sibling to Patricia Phillips, Denise Phillips, and Joseph Phillips, Jr., and aunt to nieces and nephews, including Andrew Vargo and Anna Vargo (goddaughter) and truly a dedicated canine parent to Mabel and Scoobert.

Michelle graduated from The Bush School in Seattle, Washington in 1985 and received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Mount Holyoke College in 1989. She was a beacon of love, companionship, and loyalty to her family and friends, serving them tirelessly and with a tremendous sense of humour. Her loss will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her in Canada, the US, and the UK.

She was renowned for her extensive experience in international finance. She spent fifteen years at Chase Manhattan Bank in London, England, where she co-developed and implemented their global trading strategy. After the merger with JP Morgan in 1999, she became the Managing Director and Co-Head of Global Trading. In 2002, Michelle was promoted to Global Head of Trading, and in 2008, she became the European Product Head for Securities Collateral Management. As an owner and member of the Board of Directors for PBA Group of Companies, she supported the company's transition and success from the first to the second generation of her family enterprise.

As we mourn the loss of Michelle, we also celebrate the impact she had on our lives and the world around her. We extend our deepest sympathies to all who are grieving her loss. Michelle, you will be deeply missed, but your legacy will live on forever.

May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest. May her kind and gentle soul rest in eternal peace.
