Obituary of Richard Walter Mooney

April 27, 1954 – Edmonton, Alberta

July 20, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

 

Richard “Rick” Mooney of Calgary, AB, formerly of Sherwood Park, AB, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at the age of 70 years.

 

Rick was born in Edmonton, AB, on April 27, 1954. He and his family moved to Sherwood Park in 1966 where he attended Sherwood Heights Junior High School. He graduated from Salisbury High School in 1972 and pursued a Drafting degree at NAIT.

 

One of Rick's most cherished times in his life was when he was the trainer alongside his friend Grant Quist (Coach) for the Sherwood Park Kings Bantam “AAA” (1978-79), and Ken Hitchcock (Coach) for Midget “AAA” Pipe-O-Matic (1979-80). 

 

Rick started his career in the oilfield supply business in Edmonton, moved to Vernon, BC, and then relocated to Calgary to pursue his career in the international oilfield supply business.

 

Rick was predeceased by his parents, Art and Fran Mooney; and brothers-in-law, Tom Olson and Steve Snaychuk. Those left to remember him are his brother Kevin (Kelly), sisters, Donna (Darryl), Sharon, and Lorraine; nieces and nephews, Nikki (Cindy), Sean (Monday), Tyler, Brianne, Drake (Morgan), Wyatt (Eden), and Mayson (Erik).
