Obituary of Emma Barone
September 16, 1942 – Rende, Cosenza, Italy
July 21, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Emma Barone on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at the age of 81 years.
Emma was born in Rende, Cosenza, Italy and was the fifth of six children to loving parents Pietro and Giustina Esposito. She moved to Calgary at the age of 20 and married the love of her life, Guido, in 1962. They shared the next sixty years together, building a wonderful life for themselves and raising four sons who blessed them with eight grandchildren.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who will be remembered especially for her love of family, her generosity and kindness, and her genuine care and concern for everyone around her. She lived an exceptional life, cherishing her time with family and friends. Her passions also included gardening, walks outdoors, bingo, and of course her fantastic cooking.
Emma is survived by sons, Livio (Adriana) Barone, and their children, Isabella, Matteo, and Marco; Guido (Maria) Barone, and their children, Marissa (Matthew), Daniella, and Robby; Marcello (Rosanna) Barone, and their children, GianLuca and Nicholas; and Lucio Barone (Colleen Volk).
She was predeceased by her husband Guido Barone in 2022, her parents, and her five brothers and sisters.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter’s Catholic Church (541 Silvergrove Drive N.W., Calgary, AB) on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at the Queen's Park Cemetery - Mausoleum (3219-4th Street NW, Calgary, AB). Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street N, Calgary, AB). Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mrs. Barone's service streamed live (see link below) on the day of the service.
