Obituary of Joshua Gerald Rollinmud

February 10, 1990 - Calgary, Alberta

July 19, 2024 - Morley, Alberta

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear son, brother, father, uncle, grandson, cousin, nephew, and friend, Joshua Gerald Rollinmud, on Friday, July 19, 2024, at the age of 34 years.

Josh was a kind-hearted person who loved everyone around him. He always had a smile on his face when you were greeted by him. He had a great sense of humor, always finding opportunities to make a joke or to make you laugh. Josh was very close to his mother, and during the past few months, he hardly left her side. He always talked about his children Peyton, Blake, and Maliyis and how much he loved them and wanted to be with them.

As a young boy, Josh was a sheep rider and also grew up steer riding. His late grandfather Gerald would call him a champion because he would always win trophies. Rodeos had a place in his heart, he always loved to be around the rodeo scene and had a passion to be around horses.

Josh also took part in powwows when he was a young child and at the Stampede Indian Village as an adult. While he stayed there, he would dance and take part in the parade, but his heart was always in the rodeos.

Josh grew up in Morley and was educated at the Morley Community School, where he was in the Cochrane Eagle newspaper for being one of the upcoming artists.

Josh played basketball and was captain of the team. He continued his education at Chiniki Community College. He worked on the renovations of the Morley schools MCS and NES, as a carpenter at the Brook Sawmill in Calgary and the Opabin Sand and Gravel pit in Morley. Josh also volunteered at the Nakoda Food Bank and Powwows as security.

Josh leaves behind his daughter Peyton Rollinmud Holloway, his sons, Maliyis Rollinmud and Blake Bearspaw; mother Roxanne Rollinmud, brothers, Corley (Michelle), Jay, and Carter Rollinmud; sister Tessa Rider, father Darcy Cressman, and his two step-children, Darius and Leah Bearspaw. He is also survived by his uncles, Ryeland, Aaron Young, and Orniel Myron; aunt Amelia, grandfathers, Charlie Abraham and Roland Rollinmud; adopted parents, Brenda and Jackson Wesley; and many family members from Rollinmud, Cressman, Whitford, Buffalo, Abraham, Young, Bruton, Bearspaw, Beaver, Chiniquay, Rabbits, and Holloway families. We do apologize if we have missed anyone.

He was predeceased by his sister Sheena, grandparents, Stanly, Clara Rollinmud, and Gerald Cressman; aunts, Elizabeth, Cleone, Karen, Ralphalia, Geraldine, Gorgie-Vee, and Renee; fourteen cousins, and one niece.
