Maggie
The first thing I think of when I think of our friend and fellow Saddlebag, Maggie, is her most amazing laugh and smile!
Who or what are the Saddlebags you ask? Just a small group of ladies who loved music (especially that of Karren Churchill), loved to have fun, dance and sing, and enjoyed each others company! Originally we hailed from Crossfield and Carstairs. Time had seen some of us move, but we always remain the Saddlebags.
Strong, independent, loving, positive, reasonable, personable, and a loyal friend were just a few of her greatest attributes. She was so much fun to be around! She wasn’t afraid to try different things, like putting pink in her hair, which suited her so well!
We had so many great times together. From Halloween to YaHa Tinda to Bearberry, to birthdays, Christmas’s, weddings, baby showers, pyjama parties, grand babies, camping, screech in’s, coming together to support each other through the loss of loved ones and the many road trips to hear Karren sing! We were there for each other. Such grand times we had!! Often our shenanigans involved silly hats or silly costumes!
Most recently we were together when Maggie was hospitalized. That day, Mags was in great spirits and determined to fight the cancer with everything she had! And she did. She fought hard. But God had other plans for her. Leaving this earthly world on the day of her birthday, was just her style.
Thank you Barry for being by her side constantly and advocating for her when she couldn’t. You two were a great couple!!
Maggie we will miss you. We will love you always! Thank you for sharing your life with us, and being a part of ours, Saddlebags forever!
