Obituary of Jean Ann Andrews

February 28, 1939 – London, England

October 2, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

Jean Andrews of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at the age of 85 years.

Jean was born in London, England where she met the love of her life, Allan. Jean was an avid knitter, gardener and an excellent homemaker.

The family immigrated to Calgary in 1973, where Jean worked for the public school board at Central Memorial High School for nine years. She made a long-lasting friend in her boss Len.

Coming to Canada sparked a love of camping that spanned many years. Early on, several trips down the west coast of America to San Francisco were made with family and overseas friends. These trips brought great joy to all. The Rocky Mountains of Alberta saw Jean and her family often. Wildflower hikes, stoking the fire, and cooking the food while the tea and coffee flowed were some of Jean’s favourite memories. When at home, they had many barbecues shared with the ones they loved.

Jean was the quintessential English woman whose love of tea, pressed clothing, and bags and shoes that all matched were a big part of her routine, along with quaffed hair and nails to perfection. Her kind and friendly demeanour along with her accent lent her to many friends and admirers. She was pleasant to all with a kind heart.

Jean is going to be greatly missed by her family, friends, neighbours, shopkeepers, coffee shop staff, and so many more whose hearts she touched.

Jean is survived by her loving son Gary (Susan, Tristan (Hitomi), Nadine (Derek, Desmond, Emily), daughter Yvonne (Simon, Nigel, Hillary), brother Michael (Glenda, Caroline, Simon, Christopher), sister Christine (Brad, Kent (Taylor, Scarlett), Kit (Damien) Toad), close family friends, Len and Judy and the boys, Vera and the girls and Gladys and the boys, along with a few remaining family members in Canada and England.
