Condolences
Dear Laidlaw family, I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of the beautiful Esther. Both her and Bob were so welcoming to me and we have such happy memories of them both. I thought of Esther often even though I didnt see her recently. She will always hold a very special place in our hearts. From both the Duke family and the Hunting family, we are sending so much love your way. May she rest in peace with Bob at her side.
Hannay, Kyle, Oliver and Tristan.
Dear Family and Friends of Esther Laidlaw,
The video memorial tribute to Esther, your Mom and 'MeMe' was touching and heartfelt.
I met your Mom and Dad at the Oilmen's many years ago with my former husband.
Esther and Bob were a great couple that gave generously of their talents to Calgary.
You mentioned she was a Western manager for Vanda Beauty Counselors. My mother was an executive
with the same company at the HQ in Windsor ON. Counselors wrote to 'Dear Dolly' for beauty and product advice.
My mum having four daughters were the envy of the neighbourhood with access to the lovely Beauty Counselors
product line. There were many Canada wide events, I wonder if they ever met? I wish I could have had a chat with Esther
and discover this coincidence.
Dolly and Esther had similar qualities, both beautiful with a calm disposition, strength in character and quiet elegance that was so becoming.
I wanted to send my deepest condolences to you all.

Dear Rob Joyce & Family
What a gracious woman your Mother was. I was privileged to know her as my husband Arnold introduced me to Esther & Bob when I arrived in Calgary. My fondest, entertaining memory occurred when we were on one of our trips to Scottsdale. Although Arn was an athlete, played many sports he did not golf. Esther decided the time had come. In spite of his protests we headed off to play. A disaster followed with some entertainment. It was only later Arn admitted he played all sports left handed & we rented right handed clubs.
I am sorry I can't join you at the memorial as I am away. I will be thinking of you.
Memories are like threads of gold, they never tarnish.

Margaret, Rob and Joyce,
You are fortunate to have had so many wonderful years with your parents. I know that does not lessen your sadness at this time and I am sorry your mother is no longer in your lives. I hope someone tells the “Loving Plant” story at her memorial service. It is a delightful story that ignited a long and loving relationship and resulted in a wonderful family. I am keeping Esther's memory alive with not one, but two offsprings of her loving plant.. just in case one dies. My sincere condolences, Peggy Weddell
