Obituary of Isabel Michie

Isabel Michie (nee Beatty), beloved wife of the late John “Jack” David Michie, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2024, at the age of 94 years.

Isabel was born in Carlyle, SK, on August 10, 1929. Isabel attended Carlton Junction High School where she completed her grade 10 education.

Isabel and Jack were married in 1950. She accomplished much throughout her life but was always particularly proud of her children and their successes.

She had many hobbies, including gardening, paint-by-numbers, curling, and playing bingo. She always looked forward to her trips back to Saskatchewan to visit family and friends.

Isabel had a tender heart for everybody in her life and was always there to lend a hand or help anyone in need. Her memory will forever be cherished, while her endless kindness will be commemorated by all who knew her.

Isabel is survived by her sons, Fred (Deidre) and Bruce (the late Cathy); her daughter Marilyn (Ed); her six grandchildren, Melissa (Jamie), Chantelle (Bob), Adam (Christina), Stephanie (Cody), Robyn (Eric), and Leah (Brennan); and her five great-grandchildren, Emma Lee, Sophie, Noah, Lillian, and Gus.

She is also survived by her brother Dennis; her sister Freda; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Isabel was predeceased by her beloved husband Jack; her parents, Hilda and Fred Beatty; her brothers, Ron, Cecil, Robert, and Carl; her grandparents, David and Susannah Milford, and Mary Ellen and William Beatty; and her daughter-in-law Cathy.

A viewing for those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street N, Calgary, AB) on Friday, August 2, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street N, Calgary, AB T2E 2V6) on Friday, August 2, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mrs. Michie's service streamed live (see link below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted.

Her family would like to extend a special thank you to the care team, nurses, and doctors at Chartwell Harbours and Rocky Ridge Seniors Living, Foothills Hospital, and Agape Hospice for their extraordinary care towards Isabel.
