Steven Law of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, July 30, 2024, at the age of 41 years. Born in Calgary on December 11, 1982, Steven lived there until the family moved to Hinton, AB, in 1996. He graduated from Harry Collinge High School (Hinton) in 2000 and spent the following two years at college in Grande Prairie, AB. In 2002, he returned to Calgary. In 2005, he completed a diploma in meat cutting, which helped finance his return to university to pursue a degree in computer science.

Steven graduated from the DeVry Institute of Technology in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Computer Information Systems, achieving a perfect GPA of 4.0. He received the Outstanding Student Award from DeVry, CIS, and was recognized for his outstanding commitment and service to the Enactus DeVry volunteer team.

In addition to his love for computers, Steven loved cooking and experimenting with new and different recipes, foods, and ingredients. He enjoyed exploring different genres of art and music, and could often be found walking his neighbourhood, discovering all the different shops and markets. He loved learning, reading and discussing big concepts about which he had very well-thought-out opinions. He also crocheted and knitted the most amazing toys for his much-loved nieces and nephew.

Those who had the pleasure of knowing Steven found him to be incredibly intelligent, funny, kind, and understanding of other's differences. Above all, he was a good, gentle man with so much more to experience in life.

After the onset of an incredibly aggressive form of cancer, Steven, along with his doctors and nurses at the Peter Lougheed Hospital, fought with everything they had, but he was taken from us within days of his diagnosis. He died surrounded by his family who loved him and will miss him dearly.

Steven is survived by his parents, stepparents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, half-siblings Alex and Tiffany Law, and his cherished sister Katie Lalonde, her husband Shaughn, and their children Rosie, Griffin, and Emily. Raised with his cousin Amy Chessor, who was like a sister to him, Steven was looking forward to meeting her new son, Logan, but sadly never had the chance.

Steven was predeceased by his loving stepdad and long-time roommate, Bill Torrie, grandparents, Phyl and Jim Torrie; and great-grandparents, Dolores and Ray Brown.
