Obituary of Gina Rosalie Desjarlais

June 21, 1978 – Kindersley, Saskatchewan

July 30, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

 

Gina Desjarlais of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at the age of 46 years.

 

Gina was born in Kindersley, SK, on June 21, 1978. The Desjarlais' lived in the trailer court for a few years before settling into the family home on West Road. Gina lived in Kindersley, SK, Saskatoon, SK, Fort St. John, BC, and finally settled in Calgary, AB.

 

Gina graduated from Kindersley Composite in 1997. She then continued to post-secondary school in Calgary, AB, as a youth counsellor.

 

At a young age, Gina worked at A&W, Tim Hortons, and the Heritage Manor. In Fort St. John, she worked as a field medic. In Calgary, she joined the Commissionaires company, where she worked as a security guard at the Canadian Government Harry Hays building.

 

Gina accomplished much throughout her life and was particularly proud of her nieces’ and nephews’ accomplishments.

 

Gina enjoyed watching hockey especially the Flames as well as her nieces and nephews playing various sports including sledge hockey and school-driven sports. Also, she was a Big Roughriders fan.

 

Gina was fond of most animals, but her favourite, of course, was kittens. Her cats Murphy, Magoo, and Squibbly will truly miss her.

 

She was an avid ringette player in her earlier years and a rugby player when she lived in Saskatoon. She was always up for a round of golf or two if there were some drinks involved.

 

As you all may know Gina always jumped at the opportunity to travel. She had the travel bug as you would call it. She visited various places such as Costa Rica, Jamaica, Las Vegas, USA, and Maui, Hawaii, USA.

 

Gina is survived by her three brothers, and two sisters-in-law, Dion (Jessica), Justin, and Daylan (Eden) of Kindersley, SK. Chris (Kaden, Taylor, Alexis, Avery, and Jayce) of Calgary, AB; Josh (Sabrina and Family) Meadow Lake SK; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

 

Gina was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Patricia.
